ABOUT US

The mission of Phase2Careers is to assist the "Over 40" Worker in the Bay Area with finding new career opportunities through job search/career development workshops, networking / recruitment events, and special career presentations.

Overseen by a Board of Directors and an Advisory Board, Phase2Careers is a private, local 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization that receives no governmental funding.

 

OUR PROGRAMS 

Our goal is to offer a wide variety of career/job search, networking, and educational programs to aid both job seekers and career changers, as well companies wishing to tap into our valuable resource of well-qualified  experienced applicants.

JOB SEARCH/CAREER WORKSHOPS

We offer ongoing monthly career presentations by local career experts, managers, and human resources specialists.

The job search workshops offered are designed to sharpen job search skills including:

  • Resume Writing
  • Effective Interviewing
  • Social Networking
  • Intensive Job Search Techniques
  • ... and more!

Ongoing Career Presentations:

Job Search Review  features panels of experts providing both group and one-to-one feedback for job seekers.

The Employment Roundtable is held monthly to connect job seekers with five to seven different companies representing a variety of industries.

Strategic Career Change:  Your Next Phase is an intensive four-step process to evaluate your skills, interests, values, and motivators.  This program includes group discussions, lecture, as well as self-assessment exercises, and interest and personality tests.

Mock Interviews provide applicants with an opportunity to practice interviewing with HR professionals who give on-the-spot feedback and tips for improvement.

LinkedIn Workshops are designed to introduce applicants to job hunting through LinkedIn and other social media.

JOB FAIRS AND CAREER DAYS

Several large-scale events such as Job Fairs provide opportunities for the "Over 40" Worker to meet employers who are looking for experienced workers.

Career Days and Career Workshops target various career industries through panel discussions with industry leaders.  These events provide opportunities to learn about trends, how to enter different fields, and ways to get started.

FOR EMPLOYERS

Bay Area employers actively participate on a number of panels, in workshops, and on our board/advisory board. As such, we wish to offer:

  • A means for employers to recruit qualified candidates
  • A way to assist employees who need career guidance or career coaching during the layoff process
  • Education for companymanagers to learn how to maximize and work with the "Over 40" Worker
  • Education about various laws affecting the "Over 40" Worker
  • Recognition of employers who have stellar records with programs and services for the "Over 40" Worker.

 

ABOUT THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The founder and Executive Director, Ron Visconti, has a long history of working with the job seekers and the employer community.  He founded and managed the nonprofit career center, Career Education Center, for 18 years, and has organized hundreds of job fairs and recruitment events, overseen numerous transition projects, which assisted laid off workers, and taught and counseled hundreds of job seekers and career changers.  He was a previous recipient of the Career Counselor of the Year (bestowed by his peers of the California Career Guidance Association).  He has written numerous articles for Bay Area papers and has co-authored two books on recruitment and termination.  He has taught at several local colleges in human services and career counseling.
